Q: What is the diameter of the actual curtain rod? I don't know if fits through the valance or curtain part!

A: The diameter is 22mm(0.98 inches). It is pretty sturdy and fits through the valance or curtain part! 

Q: How do you tighten the rod once extended? 

A: The extension part of the Tension Rod rotates out. After it is suitable for your own use length, the delay part is compressed in the opposite direction.
